Here's a little more detail about the upcycled and handmade line. The pieces are one of a kind and sewn from both thrifted and newer textiles. One of my absolute favorite parts of the process is digging through the blanket/quilt section of a thrift store -- this is where the creativity begins. Once I find a unique, quality piece of fabric, I decide the new form it'll take on. This remains one of the hardest parts of the process because I often struggle to choose whether I want to make a bag or a quilted jacket or even a patchwork tee. The options are endless... but that's what makes it so much fun!
If I have a specific print in mind, however, I will resort to newer fabrics. Although newer fabrics are easy to replicate, no two items are alike. That's the beauty of handmade items! Each stitch lays slightly differently per cloth. Each cut of cloth varies slightly. Each unique item resembles the unique, one of a kind customer.
As much as I love sewing and making new products for the with love community, I encourage you to start sewing or hand stitching! I want to share the love of the process. As strange as it may sound, sewing produces a lot more than just a tangible bag or item of clothing. Sewing teaches patience, perseverance, and gratitude. It's not always the easiest process, but it is oh so sweet when you finish a piece you've long awaited for. Moreover, sewing slows the pace of a busy day. I have always struggled to slow down, but sewing has taught me the beauty of taking a pause and reflecting. Primarily, my heart overflows when I think of the special customer who will get to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Seeing friends and family in clothing that I have poured love into absolutely fills my heart.
I could go on and on about the beauty of sewing, but I'll save that for another time. Ultimately, I encourage you to learn the timeless art. It's incredible how enduring the skill has been through the past centuries. Even if you don't feel the most creative, you'd be surprised just how practical the skill can be!
Thank you with love community for allowing me to share my passion of sewing. I could not do it without each and every one of you. Here's to many more stitches of love and care!
With love,
Lank
